Description
Streisand Gold Record Award
This Entertainment Collectible is a Recording Industry Association of America® ("RIAA") award featuring Barbra Streisand's first holiday Christmas album, "A Christmas Album", released in October 1967.
The Streisand Gold Record Award consists of three items that are mounted on a backing contained within a gold frame (measuring about 17" W x 21" H) and a glass cover. The three items are:
- Laser-cut gold plated vinyl record of the 12″ 33 1⁄3 RPM microgroove long-playing album
- Small album cover image (taken during rehearsal for her concert "A Happening in Central Park")
- RIAA Certified Sales Award plaque presented to Jack Gold who was an A&R executive and producer at Columbia Records. It says:
"Presented to Jack Gold to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the Columbia Records Long Playing Record Album 'Barbra Streisand Christmas Album'"
The backing and the small album cover image are faded and the gold frame is slightly worn (easily replaceable). The actual gold record and the RIAA plaque are in mint condition.
Please note that in the pictures I took, the gold record looks kinda warped. However, it is NOT WARPED, it is in PERFECT CONDITION. It just looks that way because of the reflections.
This Christmas album placed #1 on the Billboard charts 5 weeks in a row and is ranked as one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time.
Also, Streisand holds the record for the most gold album awards of any female recording artist in RIAA history. The Streisand Gold Record Award makes a great Music Memorabilia gift for collectors and Streisand fans.
