Sheffield Silent Butler 269
This vintage item is a classy Sheffield Silver Co. electroplate silver portable "Silent Butler" tray with a hinged lid and wood handle. See it live on YouTube.
A coat of arms is etched on the lid and the maker marks are etched on the bottom with E P C, a lion head, a crown, and a fancy S.
There are some cigarette burns on the inside (see pic). Otherwise, the Sheffield Silent Butler 269 (aka "ash butler") is in excellent condition.
Used to collect ashtray contents or crumbs from a dinner table, this item would make a great gift for smokers and a terrific addition to any bar or dining room.
