Collector Edition Monopoly Set. In the 1930’s during the Great Depression Monopoly’s popularity sky rocketed. Families could no longer afford the luxury of going out at night. Using fantasy money trading real estate on the Monopoly board game provided them with hours of entertainment and relieved their financial stress. Parker Brothers, feeling the financial strain as well, came out with a more economical version of the game. A small box with wooden tokens, less paper to print at a lower cost, and a product that would last longer. This special collector edition Monopoly set is a reproduction of that 1930’s version.
This set is in mint condition. It has never been used. All games pieces are still individually wrapped and sealed. The complete set includes: History of Monopoly booklet; 1930’s style game board; 2 dice; 6 “antique” tokens; wooden houses; hotels; “aged” Monopoly money; chance cards; title deed cards; community chest cards; and built-in banker’s tray/storage area.
