Antique Spanish Sword
You are looking at an antique weapon. It is a straight double-edged sword made from two types of steel hot forged with different high carbon contents. The etching just above the guard/handle says “TOLEDO”.
There is also a hand-made decorative etching that extends about 14″ straight down the middle of the blade. In addition, there is also a fancy design engraved on the round pommel and the curved cast guard.
Furthermore, the sword has a one-handed grip tightly wrapped in cording. The full length of the sword is about 49″ long, the blade’s thickness is about 1.5″, and it weighs approximately 3 pounds.
This item has some rust and oxidation. Also, the guard is only on one side. Otherwise, the Antique Spanish Sword is in excellent condition. It makes a great gift for collectors.
Toledo is an ancient city above Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain where every Sword and dagger has been made by individual craftsmen since Roman times. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, royalty all over the world had Toledo swords.
The sword-makers of Toledo played a key role in the city’s economic development. Consequently, in 1986, Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage.
The Antique Spanish Sword makes a great gift for collectors.
